Gosha Ostretsov is a prominent figure in contemporary Russian art. Since the late 1990s, he has been developing The New Government, a parodic Gesamtkunstwerk exploring themes of power and despotism in post-Soviet Russia. This multidisciplinary project blends sculpture, painting, text, photography, performance, video, comics, and more to construct a parallel universe where "masked aliens" dominate the world, enforcing their rule through a compliant mass media machine.
